In his book "What is Mission" Andrew Kirk argues that:
"By and large religions have evolved to meet the needs of the communities which practice them. Therefore, attempting to persuade people to change their religion does not make sense: it would be the equivalent of destroying their identity, making them into cultural and spiritual orphans."
I was talking to Oli about this the other week, and I wondered how you thought it fitted with us going out and telling people the Gospel.
That was the first question, the other was in response to something that was said on Tuesday about learning about other religions:
- Do you think we should try and find out all we can about other people's beliefs?
- Do you think it's better if we don't know anything, so we don't get 'tempted away'?
- Do you think that other people's beliefs can help us understand our own better?
- Do you think that we can work with people who hold a different faith to us (or just different beliefs) or is that unbiblical?
Take care all, and hope your exam goes well today!
